Some of the contentious components of Overwatch 2 could be one thing that gamers haven’t so lovingly named Counterwatch. It is the act of swapping heroes mid-fight to counter sturdy enemies, and it may be sufficient to ship some gamers right into a swirling rage. It is fairly basic to Overwatch 2, however for Stadium it is a totally different story.

“No hero swapping has been one of many core foundational pillars of the mode since day one, like since we began prototyping it,” senior recreation designer Dylan Snyder tells me. “A part of that’s due to how tough it’s to sort of deal with, what if anyone swapped after a number of rounds, and what does that do for the enemy staff?”
